Delivering for Strood Streets

Councillor Stephen Hubbard, working with local residents (pictured) has secured funding for alley gates for Strood. Unlike the tories who have opposed reduction in anti-social behaviour legislation Labour is working with local residents to improve the lives of residents across Strood.

Cllr Stephen Hubbard reports,

"In early May a group of residents living on Gordon Road & Weston Road contacted me seeking help in installing a crime-bustingalley gating scheme. They wanted help with funding the scheme and project management. In turn I made the case for the council to fully fund the project. Last year I raised a petition and wrote numerous letters about the need to tackle anti social behaviour in the immediate area."

The Council does have an alley gating scheme, but the funds made available by the Conservative administration covers barely 10% of all the requests made. Labour’s Cllr Hubbard was successful in ensuring that this scheme now forms part of the alley gating programme 2008/9 and the financial costs will be fully borne.

Labour is working with residents for Strood. If you think that your street needs an alleygate and that you are suffering because of antisocial behavior, please contact Stephen Hubbard and your local Police constable.
