Road Success

The'Get Strood Moving' Campaign continues at pace. Working with local residents we have organised road petitions and have delivered in road resurfacing across the area, including successfully securing funding for Merrals Wood Road and Darnley Road resurfacing in South Strood.

The 'Get Strood Moving' campaign is also highlighting the total inconsitency and investment in public transport, and specifically poor bus services in Strood. Medway Tories have not put enough pressure on Arriva to deliver on busses and alternative forms of transport in Strood, and this has added to traffic and congestion on weekends. Busses do not operate on a regular basis and simply fail to operate on Sundays, despite elderly resident concerns.

The Labour Action team have been campaigning with local residents on road-resurfacing schemes and have joined in public anger towards Medway Tories, who have spent millions of pounds spent on Chatham road schemes that no one voted for.

Commenting on the road resurfacing petitions and projects across Strood, Tristan Osborne stated that

"We are all fed up with the traffic jams and traffic jams. Strood Roads are congested and busses are a joke currently in Strood and the direct blame lies with Medway Tories who have had a totally disjointed approach to public transport and road management. Medway Tories introduced the hated and despised Chatham two-way scheme and have failed to get a grip on roadworks. If you have travelled to other areas of the Country you will be able to see at first hand how other local authorities have managed transport and how Medway is severely lacking. It is time we focused on improved public transport."

"The only big idea in transport pushed by Tories is the 'Boris' Island Airport that would destroy our local environment, proposed by the London Conservative Mayor, and fully supported by a number of Conservative MPs."
